During the scrolling through different social media apps and while waiting for the counseling session this past week, it occurred, that the waiting was starting to cause the already anxiety ridden thoughts to compound.
The noise levels of those in the waiting area seemed to be amplified and the heart rate was starting to go up. It was not a good moment.
Focusing on the different Instagram accounts that spoke of motivation was helping somewhat but the nagging thoughts and doubts were starting to overshadow the effort.
So instead I decided to turn my focus on being active by finding one of the pictures that I had taken the previous week and making my own inspiration. It was just a simple sun setting picture with the words “Remember…Breathe in…Breathe out…” These were the same words going through my thoughts as I sat there taking in deeper and deeper breaths. It started to help and within 15 minutes or so the heart rate was going down plus the noise level had started to die down because other patients were leaving. I had made it through the moment better than expected.
I noticed that after I had posted the pic to my Instagram account it picked a few likes and a comment. It started to make me feel a little better. It was this weird feeling of knowing that others were out there who heard my voice even for just a few seconds. It made a tremendous difference in how my thoughts continued since I had awoken that morning.
Then as the day went along scrolling through Facebook I realized that a lot of people, no matter where they are at, look toward words of motivation to get through those tough moments. This is evident in the fact that some messages are shared, posted or featured sometimes millions of times. This has been a recurring theme on other forms of social media as well.
There are people who put out these small gems of advice, words of wisdom, or just thought-provoking points to ponder not knowing who they may affect. To them it may be something they do to promote a cause, themselves or even products but to a reader, that takes it all in, that may be the pivot point for them in that brief moment.
That one brief moment needed to change their thoughts or actions from negative to something more positive. To that individual it may appear to be just a coincidence, a message sent from all divine power or the universe calling to them to pay attention. To others it’s just words with a pretty picture of a majestic place of beauty, their favorite actor/singer/sports hero or maybe even a cute animal. Whatever caught the reader’s eye and maintained it long enough to get the message across.
Human beings are both complicated and simple at the same time. Simple in the fact that all have the same basic needs, the same basic body functions and experience the same basic feelings. We complicate our lives by the way we react to them emotionally or in our thought processes.
The way we “learned” how to react to them is what makes everything “seem” complicated, tough, impossible or just out of our reach. This has allowed us to make “excuses” for our actions or non-action.
Granted there are those that actually have a medically explained issue that affects thinking outside what is considered the “normal” but we can still continue on. That choice has and will always be, up to us.
It takes a conscious awareness of one’s own self to take action, make a change and to keep repeating that every day. Everyone has the same opportunity but only when you are willing and ready to see it.
As I’ve said before the only thing we cannot change or affect is “time”.
So as you wake up each day make that decision to get up, get showered, get dressed, eat breakfast, exercise, meditate on the day ahead, go with your plan and just keep existing for another 24 hours, 1,440 minutes, or 86,400 seconds until the earth rotates and the sun appears on the horizon once again.
The past is gone. Live each moment in the present. Secure your future.
Thank you for stopping by.
Have a great week!
May peace, love, happiness, joy and positive vibes find you always!
